Ground Gunners or plumbers so they were called reportedly at Maaten Bagush. Sgt Archer states they had to go out into the desert and set up dummy airstrips for the enemy to attack, which the Italians did quite regularily and ,later, the Germans did with more zeal and deadly effect.
